My journey with the oboe began when I was 7 when I first started playing piano. However, it was at the age of twelve that my fascination with woodwinds blossomed, leading me to the beautiful sound of the oboe. Captivated by its distinctive timbre and expressive possibilities, I embraced the instrument wholeheartedly and soon found myself immersed in the rich orchestral tapestry of a youth orchestra. Throughout my high school years, the oboe became not just an instrument but a conduit for self-expression and artistic exploration. I had known I wanted to pursue music from an early age, so it only seemed natural to pursue the oboe at the collegiate level, aspiring to delve deeper into the intricacies of this unique instrument and continue my journey as a oboist and musician.
My teaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that fostering a passion for music goes hand in hand with honing technical proficiency. I am dedicated to empowering my students to reach their full musical potential by providing a comprehensive education that encompasses both the artistry of being a musician and oboe playing, while also learning the intricacies of reed making. Through personalized guidance, I aim to instill a lifelong love for music while equipping students with the necessary skills to navigate the technical challenges of their craft. By merging the expressive and technical facets of oboe performance, I aspire to cultivate well-rounded musicians who not only master their instruments but also find joy and fulfillment in the transformative power of being musicians.
I have collaborated with various artists over the years, including singers, songwriters, and other musicians. I believe that collaboration is key to creating great music and love working with other talented individuals.
