Cameron Hartich is a multifaceted artist renowned as an oboist, woodwind repair technician and educator with a vibrant presence in the Los Angeles music scene. He performs with groups throughout Southern California such as the San Diego City Ballet Orchestra as well as freelance work.
As a passionate teacher, he maintains a private teaching studio of all ages. After graduating from California State University Northridge with a BM in oboe performance, he is now pursuing a MM in oboe performance from San Diego State University.
His musical pursuits demonstrate his dedication to honing his craft while pushing the boundaries of his musical expression.
At the heart of his reed making philosophy, Cameron believes that making reeds is both a craft and an art. He maintains a commitment to prioritize response, intonation, depth and ease of playing.
A great reed is essential for an oboist to express themselves fully. In the delicate artistry of oboe reed making, a balance of craftsmanship and intuition produces a rich and resonant tone.
He is on the lifelong quest for the "perfect reed."
